Josephine (Teta) Erba

Josephine “Jo” Teta Erba, 100 years old, of Hamden, CT died peacefully at her home on Friday, July 7, 2023. She was the beloved wife of the late Ralph J. Erba. Jo was born in Hamden on May 20, 1923, a daughter of the late Alexander and Maria Santillo Teta and was a lifelong town resident. She worked for the Hamden Board of Education for many years as a coordinator, placing substitute teachers in the town elementary schools. Jo graduated from Hamden High School in 1942, and knitted many hats , scarfs and afghans for family, friends and newborns at the Hospital of St. Raphael. She was a 48 year member of the Hamden Women’s Club. Special thanks are extended to Jo’s neighbors and friends, and her many doctors, nurses and caregivers for their kindness and compassion. She is survived by two daughters, Anne Magarian of Madison and Deborah Riveccio of East Haven, two grandchildren, Michael (Cassie Phillips) Riveccio of Athol, MA and Matthew (Meaghan) Riveccio of Weymouth, MA, one great-granddaughter, Raelynn Skye Riveccio, and many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, including special nieces Dora and Mary. She was predeceased by her son-in-law Michael Magarian and two brothers, Anthony “Sonny” Teta and John Teta.  There will be no calling hours. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 11th at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church (St. Paul VI Parish), 2819 Whitney Ave., Hamden. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Hamden.
