Joseph Carl Kaminski, 68, of New Haven, CT , formerly of Fairfield, CT passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2024. Joe was born January 27, 1956 to the late Joseph and Lucia Pavia Kaminski, and had resided in Fairfield for most of his life. He also spent a few years in Florida with family and friends. Joe was a graduate of Andrew Warde High School, and was self-employed. He was a skilled carpenter, and held many jobs. His favorite job though was being a father. Joe raced Ducati motorcycles, had quite a collection of bikes, and won many trophies.
When Joe became ill in Florida, he asked his ex-wife Maria Palmieri for help, and they continued their friendship for life. Maria came back to Florida and brought him back home to Connecticut to be with family and friends. Joe enjoyed his monthly visits to Maria and John's home in Monroe, CT. Maria and John would cook an amazing lunch and friends and family would join Joe in Maria and John's home for lunch and laughs.
Joe is survived by his friend for life Maria Palmieri (mother of his children), step-son James Stephen (Sarah) Gantz, daughters Jessica Melchionne and Amanda Mintz, grandchildren Theo Melchionne, Jason Mintz, Jr., Lucas Mintz, his brother Frank (Lois) Kaminski, his sister Jeannie (Mike) D'Amato, and many nephews and nieces.
As per Joe's request there are no calling hours. A graveside service will be held at a later date. Joe's wish would be for everyone to just try to get along. As he had said many times, Maria would like all of his family and friends to play Free Bird by Lynyrd Skynyrd and to remember Joe. He will be greatly missed. The Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven has been entrusted with arrangements. washingtonmemorialfh.com
