Joseph Anthony Cricco, 79, of Prospect, formerly of Bethany died peacefully on Monday, December 12, 2022. He was the beloved husband of forty three years to Laura Morsicato Cricco. Joe was born in New Haven on March 13, 1943, a son of the late Anthony and Julia Bozzutto Cricco. He had resided in Bethany for more than thirty years before moving to Prospect five years ago. Joe was an elevator technician and member of the International Union of Elevator Contractors, Local #91, Hartford for forty two years, retiring in 2005. During that time he worked at various firms including Otis Elevator, Eastern Elevator and most recently Thyssen Elevator Co. Joe was an avid skeet and trap shooter and member of the Hamden Fish and Game Club as well as the Bristol Fish and Game Club. He proudly served in the U.S. Army National Guard for six years in the mid ‘60’s to early 70’s. Joe loved animals and was a great dad to all his many pets throughout the years. His family wishes to sincerely thank the staff at Accent Care Hospice of Middlebury for the care and support they provided during a difficult time. Besides his wife Laura, Joe is survived by his son Anthony Cricco of Durham, his brother John Cricco and his wife Lynn, his grandson Nicholas Cricco of Durham, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Barbara and George Coutts, and niece and nephew Michelle and Jeffrey Coutts, all of Hamden. Joe’s family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, December 19th from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. A funeral service will take place at the funeral home at 12:00 p.m., the Rev. Michael Santiago officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Beaverdale Memorial Park, Hamden.
