José Ramón Vázquez

José Ramón Vázquez, 80, of New Haven, CT died peacefully at his home on Monday, June 12, 2023 with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of forty two years to Ramona Rivera Vázquez. José was born in Humacao, Puerto Rico on February 21, 1943, a son of the late Ramón Vázquez and the late Ezequiela Maldonado, and had resided in New Haven for more than sixty years. He was a machine operator for the Ward Group of Wallingford for twelve years, retiring in 2005 and had previously worked at Turbine Components, Branford for twenty one years. José proudly served his country with the U.S. Army. In addition to his wife, José is survived by two daughters, Martha Vázquez of East Haven and Wanda (Bill Honeycut) Vázquez of West Palm Beach, FL, two sons, José Ramón (Michele) Vázquez, Jr. of Pittsburgh, PA and José Luís Vázquez of New Haven, eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by a sister, Gloria Vázquez and three brothers, Agapito Flores, Isabelo Vázquez and Vicente Vázquez. José's family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, June 19th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 20th at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, New Haven. washingtonmemorialfh.com
