José Manuel Machicote Falero, 71, of New Haven, CT died suddenly on Thursday, May 23, 2024 at St. Mary Hospital, Waterbury. He was the beloved husband of Dorca Latimer Machicote. José was born in Carolina, Puerto Rico on August 8, 1952, a son of the late Santos Machicote and the late Ramona Falero, and had resided in New Haven for the past fifty three years. He worked as a factory welder in New Haven for several years, and later was a sanitation worker for the City of New Haven, Dept. of Public Works for twelve years, retiring in 2005. José was a member of Star of Jacob Christian Church. He is also survived by three daughters, Claribel Machicote Rivera of Carolina, Janice Machicote and Zuleyka Machicote of New Haven, a son, Marvin Machicote and his wife Nickolie "Nicky" Machicote of Naugatuck, eight sisters, Flora and Rosa Machicote, Ruth Cartagena, Carmen Rodríguez, Luz Rivera, Milagros Pena, Rosa Mercado and Marissa Cooper, two brothers, Santos Machicote, Jr. and Hector Pena, and six grandchildren. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by two sisters, Ivette Roman and Nimsi Machicote and two brothers, Santiago Falero Machicote and Wilfredo Correa.
José's family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, May 30th at Star of Jacob Christian Church, 506 Howard Ave., New Haven from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. A funeral service will take place at the church on Friday, May 31st at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, New Haven.
