José Luís Hernández Colón

José Luís Hernández Colón, 79, of Bristol, formerly of New Haven died peacefully at Bristol Hospital on Saturday, January 22, 2022. José was born in San Turce, Puerto Rico on March 27, 1942,  son of the late Juan Díaz and the late Rosa Colón. He had resided in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico for much of his life before moving to New Haven in 2004, and had resided in Bristol for the past seven years. José was a plumber for the Hotel Caribe Hilton in San Juan, Puerto Rico for more than twenty five years. He is survived by two daughters, Wanda Ivette Hernández of Bristol and Damaris Hernández of New Haven, two sons, Hector Luís Hernández of Rio Piedras and José Luís Hernández of New Haven, four sisters, Rosa Maria Hernández, Nitza Hernández and Isaura Hernández of Rio Grande, Puerto Rico and Ramona Hernández of Carolina, Puerto Rico, two brothers, Carlos Hernández and Orlando Díaz Colón of Rio Piedras, twelve grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. José's family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, January 25th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. A funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Wednesday, January 26th at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, New Haven. www.washingtonmemorialfh.com.
