José Enrique Castañeda Velázquez

José Enrique Castañeda Velázquez, 61 of East Haven, formerly of West Haven and New Haven died peacefully on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at Yale-New Haven Hospital with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Migdalia Rodríguez Rodríguez. José was born in Lima, Perú on April 6, 1959, a son of the late José Castañeda Sánchez and the late Asunción Velázquez Totocayo. He came to the United States in 2020 and had resided in New Haven for many years before moving to West Haven for two years, and East Haven for the past year. He worked as a welder/assembler for J.F.D. Tube & Coil Co. of Hamden up until his illness. José is also survived by four daughters, Melissa Gladys Chacón of Lima, Lissette (Louis) Moore of West Haven and Michelle (Felipe) Luís of East Haven, and Glendaliz (Roberto Rodríguez) Jiménez of Puerto Rico,  two sons, Edison (Alba) Rodríguez, and Erick (Carina) Astudillo of New Haven, three sisters, Bertha, Enriqueta and Rosa Castañeda Velázquez, two brothers, Lucio and Edy Castañeda Velázquez all of Lima, eleven grandchildren, Danielle and Joselin Astudillo, Giselle and Edison Piero Jiménez, Mateo J. Ramirez, Evelyn D. Alvarado in Perú,  Nadeisha Karina Luís, and Bryant and Alayhaliz Rodríguez in Puerto Rico, and Alex Erazo and Louis Emilio Moore of West Haven, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends in Peru as well as the New Haven area. José's family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, February 27th from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven.
