John R. Martínez

John R. Martínez, 60, of New Haven died suddenly at his home on Tuesday, August 30, 2022. John was born in Brooklyn, New York on August 28, 1962, a son of Aida López and Juan Martínez of New Haven, and had resided in the city since 1969. He worked as a cook in several area New Haven restaurants, and also worked for auto parts stores delivering auto parts. He is also survived by two daughters, Jeannette Roman of Waterbury and Ariel Martínez of Ft. Meyers, FL, three sons, John Martínez of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Hector S. Martínez of New Haven and Anthony Martínez of Ft. Meyers, three sisters, Ruth (Jay) Foster and Sandra Martínez of New Haven, and Suzanne León of Ft. Meyers, one brother, Andrew Martínez of New Haven, four grandchildren, four nephews, Miguel A. Laureano, Noel and Sergio Laureano, and Johann Cortes-Forbes. He is also survived by many loving cousins and friends. John's family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, September 6th from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. A funeral service will take place at the funeral home at 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Centerville Cemetery, Hamden. www.washingtonmemorialfh.com
