Joel Hernández

Joel Hernández, 47, of New Haven died suddenly at his home on Saturday, February 19, 2022. He was the beloved husband of Bethzaida Pedraza. Joel was born in Maunabo, Puerto Rico on January 4, 1975, son of José Antonio Hernández of Maunabo and the late Paula Rodríguez Santiago, and had lived in Manaubo for most of his life before moving to New Haven fifteen years ago. Joel was a self-employed barber in New Haven. He is also survived by a daughter, Luz Mileydi Hernández of Woonsocket, RI, a son, Joel Omar Hernández Acevedo of Rochester, NY, two step-daughters, Betzy and Delis García, four step-sons, Miguel, Yandiel, Yangel and John García, all of New Haven, one brother, Luís Antonio Hernández of Arizona, a grandson, Noah Hernández of Woonsocket, and many loving relatives and friends. Joel's family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, March 1st from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. A funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Tuesday, March 2nd at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Centerville Cemetery, Hamden. www.washingtonmemorialfh.com
