Jewel Parm Means Robinson, 88, of New Haven departed peacefully at Connecticut Hospice, Branford on Friday, October 28, 2022 following a brief illness. Jewel was born in Sandusky, Illinois on April 23, 1934, a daughter of the late Georgia Parm-Gibbs (Richard) and Sonnie A. Parm. She had resided in Hartford, Manchester and Bloomfield for most of her life before moving to New Haven eighteen years ago. Jewel was a research clerk for the Connecticut State Library for twenty years, retiring in 1999, and was an avid fan of fashion, interior decorating, politics, and most of all, being surrounded by her family. She was a woman of faith anchored in spirituality which guided her throughout her lifetime. She is survived by four daughters, Kathy (Billy Clinton) Means of North Haven, Karen (Barry Collins) of Hamden and Karla Miller and Kristi Means of New Haven, two sons, David Means, III of Hamden and Duwane (Joan) Means of New Haven, two sisters, Thressia (Willy) Richardson and Claudette Parm of Atlanta, GA, two brothers, York Parm of Ayers, MA and Sonny (Joyce) Parm of Ypsilanti, MI, seven grandchildren, Janice Clinton, Shayne and Shannon Miller, Jessica Means and Kira (Adimu Colón) Means, Anthony Clayburn and Robert Lilly, nine great-grandchildren, Taylor Clinton, Yarin and Zachery Epps, Rachael Morris, Robert Burroughs, Lilly Jewel Colón and Axel Colón, Cassius Clayburn and Khloe Miller, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her first husband David Means, Jr., husband Edgar Robinson, her son, Gregory Means, and sisters Joyce Tillman and Lorine Dunklin Jewel’s family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, November 4th from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Metropolitan AME Zion Church, 2051 Main St., Hartford. A funeral service will take place at the church at 11:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford.
