Janese Mabel Espinoza,16, of New Haven, CT died Tuesday, November 11, 2025 at Yale-New Haven Hospital, York St. Campus from injuries sustained earlier in a motor vehicle accident. Janese was born in New York City on November 19, 2008, a daughter of Glora Castro of New Haven and Miguel Espinoza of New York City. She had resided in New York for most of her life before moving to New Haven two years ago. Janese was a senior at Wilbur Cross High School of New Haven.
Janese was a cheerful, loving young woman full of dreams. She had a passion for painting and drawing, and she dreamed of studying to become a paramedic and serving in the Army. She loved her dog "Mylo", with whom she shared long walks, no matter the rain. She had a big heart and a smile that could brighten any place. She left deep footprints and memories that will live forever in our hearts.
Her family and loved ones will always remember her with love, gratitude, and tenderness for the beautiful moments that they shared together.
In addition to her parents, Janese is survived by her step-father Jorge Villa of New Haven, three sisters, Jocelyn Montesdeoca of NYC, and Jeyden and Ana Sofia Villa of New Haven, her maternal grandparents Vicente Castro and Julia Pesantez of Chordelg, Azuay, Ecuador, her paternal grandparents Juan Espinoza and Maria Quiñonez of Cualaceo San Juan, Azuay, Ecuador, and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Janese's family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, November 16th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. Janese's funeral cortege will depart the funeral home on Monday, November 17th at 9:30 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. in St. Francis of Assisi Church (Blessed Michael McGivney Parish), 397 Ferry St., New Haven.
