Obituary

James J. McGrath, 68, of North Haven, CT passed into peaceful, eternal rest at home surrounded  by his loving family, after a long illness on Monday, September 11, 2023. He was born on November 22, 1954, and was a devoted husband to his wife, Frances (Squeglia), for 43 years. He was predeceased by his parents, James J. and Josephine McGrath of Ansonia. In addition to his wife, he leaves behind his beloved children, Jennifer McGrath, Kerry (Tom) Swan, Dr. James J. (Amanda) McGrath, who brought his much pride and fulfillment. He also leaves his dear sisters, June Kelly and Janice (Daniel) McGrath O’Brien, along with his adoring nieces and nephews.

Jim earned his M.B.A. at UCONN and worked several years as a Manufacturing Engineer  for General Electric and Sikorsky Aircraft. He eventually transitioned into a series of sales positions, ultimately leading to the start of his own successful business in2012. Jim always had a very technical inquisitive mind, and would take on any challenge, no matter how difficult. He was an engineer by heart, with a strong work ethic and a brilliant mechanical aptitude.

First and foremost, Jim was deeply committed to his faith and providing for his loving wife and family. He was a man of high moral standards and valued respect. He will be truly missed by his family and friends.

Jim’s family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, September 15th from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. His funeral cortege will depart the funeral home at 11:15 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. in St. Barnabas Church (St. Elizabeth of the Trinity Parish), 44 Washington Ave., North Haven. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery, North Haven. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Jim’s name may be made to Tunnels to Towers at www.t2t.org, or 2361 Hylan Blvd., Staten Island, NY 10306. Washingtonmemorialfh.com
