Issa Assaad Youssef, 89 of North Haven died peacefully at his home on Friday, April 17, 2020. He was the beloved husband of the late Sophie Gerges. Issa was born in Alexandria, Egypt on August 28, 1930, a son of the late Assaad Youssef Moanes and the late Rosa Yacoub. He immigrated to the United States in 2010, and resided in Hamden for two years before moving to North Haven eight years ago. Issa was a banker, having worked for the Central Bank of Egypt in Cairo for thirty five years, retiring in 1991. He is survived by a son, Sherif Issa Assaad and his wife Caroline Al Haddin of West Lake, Ohio, and two grandchildren, John and George Assaad of Cleveland, Ohio. He was predeceased by his son Hany Issa Assaad, five sisters, and one brother. Issa’s family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, April 19 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. A funeral service will take place at Virgin Mary Archangel Michael Coptic Orthodox Church, 87 Benham St., Hamden on Monday, April 20th at 1:00 p.m. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum at All Saints Cemetery, North Haven. www.washingtonmemorialfh.com
