Iris Padilla, 86 of New Haven, formerly of Brooklyn, NY died peacefully at her home on Sunday, February 7, 2021 with her loving family by her side. Iris was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico on June 20, 1934, a daughter of the late Julio Padilla and the late Iris Morales. She had resided in Brooklyn for much of her life, and had lived in New Haven for the past twenty years. While living in Brooklyn, Iris worked as both a seamstress in the garment district and as an assembly person in several manufacturing plants. She is survived by three daughters, Migna González of Kileen, TX, Joann Hernández of Brooklyn and Rosemary Hernández of New York City, two sons, Jesús (Chavela) González of Kissimmee, FL and William Hernández of Brooklyn, twelve grandchildren, twenty two great grandchildren, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by three daughters, Edna González, Nancy González and Jeanette Rivera, one sister, Doris Cartagena, and one brother, Tito Cartagena. Iris' family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, February 15th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven.
