Irene M. Greene

Irene M. Greene, 95, of North Haven, loving wife for 58 years to the late Robert J. Greene, peacefully entered into eternal rest, Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at St. Raphael Hospital in New Haven. Irene was born in Albany, New York, April 4, 1927, a daughter of the late Arthur L. Tanner and Irene (Qua) Tanner and had been a North Haven resident for many years. She was the co-founder and was very supportive of her husband Robert, as they established the Robert J. Greene Construction Company in Wallingford many years ago. Irene enjoyed vacationing with her family and also visiting many states on bus trips with her daughter, Carolyn. She had a talent for decorating her homes in Connecticut and Florida. Her passion for music gave her joy all her life. Irene saw the beauty in nature and her pets gave her comfort through the years. She will be truly missed by her family, who will cherish her memory always. In addition to her loving and devoted daughter Carolyn Petronella of North Haven, she is survived by two granddaughters Christina Bouchard and her husband John, and Vanessa Vazquez; two great grandsons Jared and Devyn; also many nieces and nephews, the closest that were special to her were Cheryl Bernstein and Debbie Sawyer. She was predeceased by her son Michael R. Greene, her son-in-law Nicholas P. Petronella; her grandson Eric M. Greene, two brothers; and two sisters. Irene’s family will receive relatives and friends at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven, Monday, June 20, 2022 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 12 noon, Tuesday, June 21, 2022, at the Liberty Community Church, 540 Washington Ave., North Haven.
