Humberto "Eddie" Rivera, Sr., 48, of New Haven, CT died suddenly at Yale-New Haven Hospital-York St. Campus on Wednesday, May 1, 2024. He was the beloved husband of the late Rosa Roman. Eddie was born in Paterson, NJ on August 13, 1975, a son of Angel Luís Rivera and Josefina Méndez of New Haven, and was a lifelong New Haven resident. He was a groundskeeper at Evergreen Cemetery for the past seven years. Eddie was the angel of the family. He was very handy, and could fix just about anything that need fixing. He was known to his family as "Bob the Builder", and he also loved to fish. Eddie is survived by three sons, Humberto Rivera, Jr., Angel Rivera and Eddie Rivera, all of New Haven, four sisters, Luz Méndez and Abigail Méndez of New Haven, and Cameli Cepeda of Colorado and Marie Rivera of Bridgeport, one brother, Hector Rivera of New Haven, and many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Eddie's family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, May 5 from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. A funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Monday, May 6th at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, New Haven. washingtonmemorialfh.com
