Higinio “Charo” Flores, 87, of Wallingford, CT, formerly of Washington Heights, New York died peacefully on Wednesday, August 21, 2024 at Yale-New Haven Hospital, York St. Campus with his loving family by his side. Charo was born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic on April 18, 1937. He came to the U.S. in 2004 and resided in the Washington Heights section of Manhattan for seventeen years before moving to Wallingford three years ago. While in Santo Domingo, Charo was a police officer for five years, and previously worked as an electrical and building contractor. He is survived by two daughters, Guadalupe Flores of NYC and Sagrario (Amador Acévedo) Valentín of Wallingford, three sons, Valentín (Noeli) Flores of La Stablas, Panama, and Bernardo Flores and Radámes Flores of Santo Domingo, twelve grandchildren and one great-grandson. Charo’s family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, August 24th from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Iglesia Jehova Mi Roca, 172 Welton St., Hamden. A funeral service will be conducted during visitation time. Burial will follow in Centerville Cemetery, Hamden.
