Heriberto "Eddie" Santiago, 77, of Hartford, CT, formerly of New Haven, CT died suddenly at his home on Wednesday, November 15, 2023. Eddie was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico on March 20, 1946, a son of the late Domingo and Maria Santiago, and had resided in New Haven for fifty seven years before moving to Hartford ten years ago. He was a machinist for Deitsch Plastic Company, Inc. of West Haven for fifteen years, retiring in 2011. Music was a big part of Eddie's life and he enjoyed playing guitar. He was an established musician, and band member, and was known as " La Sombra de Odilio González." The highlight of his career was playing in Madison Square Garden with other Latin performers for a celebration of Puerto Rican music. He also enjoyed fishing and spending time outdoors. Eddie is survived by a daughter, Maria Santiago, four sons, Heriberto (Liza) Santiago, Jr., Angel Santiago, Luís (Laura) Santiago and Carlos (Daisy) Santiago, all of Vineland, NJ, one sister, Olga Rivera, one brother, Hector Santiago, seventeen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his daughter Angelica Santiago, two sisters, Ana Rolón and Juana Hancock, and one brother, Miguel Santiago. Funeral arrangements for Eddie were private, and were entrusted to the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. washingtonmemorialfh.com
