Heriberto “Herbie” Peña, 74 of New Haven died suddenly at his home on Saturday, August 21, 2021. Herbie was born in Humacao, Puerto Rico on March 7, 1947, a son of the late Julio Peña and the late Elisa Rivera, and was a lifelong New Haven resident. He worked for Metal Masters of New Haven for ten years, the former Stanton Furniture Co. of New Haven for many years, and lastly Interspro, formerly of Branford for four years until retiring in 2001. Herbie is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth Peña of New Haven and Marlene Peña of Hamden, six sisters, Aida (Angel) Guevara, Ana E. (Angel) Figueroa and Migdalia Peña of Tampa, FL, Altagracia (Hector) Rivera of Lutz, FL, Daisy Peña Rivera of New Haven and Nancy (Geraldo) Mejia of East Haven, three brothers, Edwin (Nilda) Peña of Tampa, Julio C. (Lydia E.) Peña of New Haven and Epifanio (Nancy) Peña of Hamden, an aunt, Cristina Almador of New Haven, five grandchildren, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his brother José Ramón Peña. Herbie’s family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, August 26th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. A funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Friday, August 27th at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, New Haven. www.washingtonmemorialfh.com
