Gloria (Mastrangelo) LaTorraca

Gloria Mastrangelo LaTorraca, 94 of Hamden, CT died peacefully on Thursday, December 26, 2024. She was the beloved wife of the late Alphonse J. LaTorraca. Gloria was born in New Haven, CT October 1, 1930, daughter of the late Gerardo and Filomena Tozzo Mastrangelo and had lived 69 years in Hamden. She graduated from Commercial High School in New Haven. Gloria was employed at Sterling Memorial Library at Yale University, and after raising her children as a stay at home mom, Stop & Shop Distributors, North Haven and Miller Memorial Library in Hamden. She enjoyed creating her beautiful flower garden, baking and cooking for her family, and caring for her four grandchildren.

Gloria is survived by her children Katherine LaTorraca of Sedona, AZ; Daniel LaTorraca of East Haven; Michael LaTorraca (Mikah Lee) of Toronto, Ontario, Canada; Christopher LaTorraca (Shala) of Bartlesville, OK; and her grandchildren Hannah, Elijah, Saraia and Anthony LaTorraca. She was predeceased by her sisters Eleanor Mastrangelo, Mary Ciaburri, Laura DeFelice and Rose Anastasio.

Gloria’s family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, January 4th from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. Her funeral cortege will depart the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Church (St. Paul VI Parish), 321 Circular Ave., Hamden.
