George Barbiuto Obituary

George Barbiuto, 79, of Hamden, CT died peacefully on Monday, December 9, 2024 at Yale-New Haven Hospital with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Jennifer Rignoli. George was born in New Haven, CT on November 16, 1945, a son of the late Joseph and Louise (Renga) Barbiuto, and was a lifelong Hamden resident. He worked in the construction industry as a builder for many years, and later worked at Giering Metal Finishing of Hamden, retiring in 2020. George enjoyed life to the fullest. Whether it was a long weekend in Newport or Boston, his annual trip to St. Maarten (where he and Jennifer were married in 2015), or exploring Italy, George was always ready for an adventure. He had a passion for food and cooking, and when he wasn’t in the kitchen, you could find him at one of his favorite restaurants, a wine dinner or food festival. George also enjoyed golfing with his friends.

In addition to his wife Jennifer, who was his devoted partner for 22 years, George is survived by a daughter, Denise (Frank) Gaudio of Southington, a sister, Rita (Everett) Lister of Wallingford, mother-in-law Lorraine Rignoli of Hamden, sister-in-law Janet Barbiuto and brother-in-law Rocco D’Addio of Wallingford, four grandchildren, Matteo, Nico and Brando Gaudio and Nickolas Barbiuto, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by two sons, Christopher and Michael Barbiuto, two sisters, Lorraine Sette and Barbara D’Addio, and a brother, Ronald Barbiuto.

George’s family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, December 14th from 9:15 to 11:15 a.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven.
