Gamil Doss Awad, 83, of Hamden died peacefully on Thursday, December 22, 2022 at Yale-New Haven Hospital, St. Raphael Campus with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Sohair Henna. Gamil was born in Cairo, Egypt on January 23, 1939, a son of the late Doss Awad, and had resided in Cairo for most of his life before coming to the United States in 2001 and settling in Hamden. While in Egypt, Gamil was a payroll clerk for the Egyptian Department of Agriculture for forty years, retiring in 2001. In addition to his wife Sohair, Gamil is survived by a daughter, Marina (James) Saba of Old Bridge, NJ, two sons, George Doss of Hamden and John (Gihan Rezkalla) Doss of Land o' Lakes, FL, one sister, Marie Doss of Sydney, Australia, one brother, Dr. Nabeel (Karima) Salama of London, England, four beloved grandchildren, Maiya and Mikaela Saba and Jeremiah and Jonathan Doss, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by a brother, Naguib Doss Salama. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, December 24th at 10:00 a.m. at the Virgin Mary & Archangel Michael Coptic Orthodox Church, 400 Ridge Road, Hamden, CT.
