Felix Reyes Martínez

Felix Reyes Martínez, 89 of New Haven died peacefully on Saturday, May 23, 2020 at Meriden Center. He was the beloved husband of sixty five years to Elizabeth Bonilla Reyes. Felix was born in Coamo, Puerto Rico on May 1, 1931, a son of the late Sergio Reyes and the late Epifania Martínez and had resided in New Haven for fifty eight years. He had previously resided in Florida and Rochester, NY. Felix worked in the housekeeping department of Yale University for forty two years, retiring in 1995. He was a founding member and musician of Second Star of Jacob Christian Church now known as Iglesia Cristiana Estrella Resplandeciente de Jacob of New Haven, and a current member of Iglesia Asambleas de Dios of Wallingford. Felix is survived by four daughters, Rev. Zoraida (Juan) Velázquez of West Haven, Madeline (Inocencio) Rivera and Epifania (Sergio) Fiero of New Haven, and Margarita (Anibal) Roig of Santa Isabel, Puerto Rico, three sons, Felix (Jacquelin) Reyes, Jr. of New London, Louis (Maryann) Reyes of Meriden, and Sammy Reyes of New Haven, one sister, Victoria Reyes of Santa Isabel, three brothers, Antonio (Milagros) Reyes of Coamo, Angel (Rosa) Reyes of Trenton, NJ and Francisco (Tomalú) Reyes of Branford, twenty one grandchildren, twenty two great grandchildren, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his daughter Olga Galarza, and two sons, Edwin and Rev. David Reyes. Felix's family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, May 27th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. A funeral service will take place on Thursday, May 28th at the funeral home at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery, North Haven. www.washingtonmemorialfh.com
