Evelyn Swan Obituary

Evelyn E. (Emmerich) Swan, 82 of West Haven, CT died peacefully at Yale-New Haven Hospital-York St. Campus on Saturday, April 27, 2024 with her loving family by her side. She was the beloved wife of fifty one years to Robert J. Swan. Evelyn was born in New Haven, CT on October 11, 1941, a daughter of the late Fred and Evelyn Elizabeth Glynn Emmerich and was a life-long West Haven resident. Evelyn was a 1960 graduate of West Haven High School and was a cashier at Target in Milford for thirteen years where she loved working, making friends with many of the customers, retiring in 2020. She was a great mom, an even greater grandmother, and she loved all of her cousins tremendously. In addition to her husband Robert, Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Deborah (David) Papin and her son-in-law Mauricio Campos of West Haven, two brothers, Fred (Maryjane) Emmerich and James Emmerich of Florida, and four grandchildren, Caitlin Papin and her fiancé James Dupuie, Sabrina Papin and her boyfriend Christopher Joyner, Gabriela Campos and Laylah Campos. She was predeceased by her daughter Tina Marie Doyle-Campos.

Evelyn's family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, May 9th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. Her funeral cortege will depart the funeral home on Friday, May 10th at 9:00 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. in St. Louis Church (St. John XXIII Parish), 89 Bull Hill Lane, West Haven.
