Eugenio Rivera López

Eugenio Rivera López, 86, of Hamden, CT, formerly of New Haven, CT died peacefully at Arden House, Hamden on Friday, July 7, 2023. He was the beloved husband of the late Lydia Colón Rivera. Eugenio was born in Barranquitas, Puerto Rico on November 15, 1936, a son of the late Nicomedes Rivera and the late Rosa López, and had resided in New Haven since 1954, moving to Hamden three years ago. He was a machine operator at Connecticut Container Corporation for many years, and later worked at Circuit Wise, both of North Haven for twenty years, retiring in 2004. Eugenio is survived by two step-daughters, Lydia Margarita Alicea and Maria Alicea of New Haven, a step-son, Osvaldo Alicea and a son-in-law, Rafael Rivera of Coamo, Puerto Rico, many step-grandchildren and step- great-grandchildren, and many loving siblings who reside in Barranquitas, Puerto Rico. He is also survived by his loving and devoted granddaughter Madelyn Colón of New Haven. He was predeceased by his step-daughter Luced Meléndez, and two step-sons William and Armando Alicea. Eugenio's family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, July 14th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home ,4 Washington Ave., North Haven. A funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Saturday, July 15th at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery, West Haven.washingtonmemorialfh.com
