Eugenia Báez Rijo

Eugenia "Bolivia" Báez Rijo, 76 of Las Lagunas de Nisibón de Higuey, Dominican Republic died Thursday, February 19, 2026 at Yale-New Haven Hospital, York St. Campus with her loving family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Julián Felipe de la Cruz. Bolivia was born in Las Lagunas de Nisibón on August 18, 1949, a daughter of the late José Loreto Báez and the late Bernada "Gisela" Rijo and had resided there her entire life. She was in New Haven, CT visiting family at the time of her death.

Bolivia is survived by three daughters, Yolanda Báez and Maria Esther Báez of Worcester, MA and Yokasta (Edward Pezzo) Báez of New Haven, two sons, Angel Emilio Báez and Marcial Báez of Las Lagunas de Nisibón, three sisters, Carmen, Antonia and Milagro Báez Rijo and four brothers, Francisco, Librado, Virino and Bienvenido Báez Rijo, all of Las Lagunas de Nisibón, eighteen grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her son Reynaldo María Báez.

Bolivia's family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, February 24th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. A funeral service and burial will take place in Las Lagunas de Nisibón de Higuey, Dominican Republic at a later date. washingtonmeorialfh.com
