Elizabeth Diglio Obituary

Elizabeth Anne "Betty" Diglio, 100, of Branford, CT, formerly of East Haven, CT, and Hamden, CT, died peacefully at her home on Tuesday, June 2, 2026. Betty was born in New Haven, CT on April 9, 1926, a daughter of the late Anthony and Louise (Amore) Diglio, and had resided in Hamden for most of her life before moving to East Haven in 2010. She had resided in Branford for the past two years. 

Betty was a 1944 graduate of James Hillhouse High School, and went on to work as an administrator for the Town of Hamden, Dept. of Public Works for thirty years, retiring in 1999. She had previously worked for the former A.C. Gilbert Co., the former Whitney Blake Co., and the former McKesson & Robbins Pharmaceutical Co. Betty also taught dressmaking at Hamden Adult Education for several years, and designed and mad several gown for proms and weddings. She liked to travel, and enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and going to the casinos. She drove herself until she was 98 years old!

Betty is survived by her sister Barbara Lupi of East Haven, her niece Michele Albino and her husband Gerald McCarthy, five nephews, Steven Albino and his wife Lynn, Paul Albino, William Lupi and his wife Nancy, John Lupi and his partner Michael Cavallaro, and Lawrence Lupi and his wife Melissa, three great nieces, three great nephews, two great-great nephews, and her special friends Sandy Peccerillo and Louise Iagrossa. She was predeceased by three sisters, Phyllis Cinque, Marie Albino and Josephine Diglio, and her brother Anthony Diglio.

Everyone is invited to go directly to St. Therese Church (St. Pier Giorgio Frassati Parish), 555 Middletown Ave., North Haven on Thursday, June 18th for a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery, 700 Middletown Ave., North Haven.
