Elizabeth (DiNuzzo) Bonesse

Our beloved wife, mother, nonna, sister, and friend Elizabeth Bonesse, 69, of Northford CT, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 11, 2026.

Born on November 9, 1956 in Teano, Province of Caserta, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Filomena (Lofreddo) DiNuzzo of East Haven, Connecticut.

Elizabeth grew up in New Haven, where she was a straight "A" student in school. At home, she helped maintain a happy household, ensuring that her siblings were well cared for while their mother worked hard to provide for the family.  As a young adult, Elizabeth went on to marry and have a family of her own. Once the children were older, she and her husband opened Bonesse’s Apizza which was located in North Haven. There, she dedicated twenty seven years to the restaurant industry, where she formed lasting connections with customers who quickly became like family. Elizabeth retired in 2022 and spent her retirement still in the kitchen, pickling eggplants and jarring crates of tomatoes. Elizabeth also enjoyed gardening, taking care of her pets, and trips to the casino.

Above all, Elizabeth was a loving and devoted wife, mother and nonna. She was an exceptional sister and friend whose greatest joy came from caring for those she loved.

Elizabeth will be lovingly remembered by her husband Antonio Bonesse; their four children Rosa (Pasquale) Santoro of North Haven, Camillo (Rosamaria) Bonesse of East Brunswick NJ, Maria  (David) Ferrigno of Branford, and Giovanne (Anna Marie) Bonesse of Ansonia;  four grandchildren, Gabriella Bonesse, Elisa Ferrigno, Isabella Bonesse, and Giana Bonesse, and one brother, Giacomo (Dawn) DiNuzzo of East Haven

Relatives and friends are invited to go directly to St. Monica Church (St. Pier Giorgio Frassati Parish), 1331 Middletown Ave., Northford for a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated on Wednesday June 17, 2026 at 11:00am. Interment will be private and for immediate family only.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorial contributions in Elizabeth's name be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or www.stjude.org
