Edison Santiago Obituary

Edison Santiago, 64 of New Haven died peacefully on Thursday, April 16, 2020 at Regal Care, West Haven with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Julia Díaz Santiago. Edison was born in Sabana Grande, Puerto Rico on January 5, 1956, a son of the late Monserate Santiago and the late Maria Estela Vega, and had resided in New Haven for the past fifty years. He was a machinist for Sargent Co. (Assa Abloy) of New Haven for more than thirty years, retiring in 2018 due to his illness. In addition to his wife, Edison is survived by one son, Cutberto "Berto" Rodriguez of West Haven, five daughters, Erica (Danyel) Roman of Oralndo, FL, Madeline (Albert) Mendéz and Elizabeth Rodriguez of New Haven, and Gladys Santiago, her fiancé Richard Santa, and Julie Rodriguez of Hamden. He is also survived by twenty two grandchildren, three brothers, and four sisters. He was predeceased by two sisters. Edison’s family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, April 19th from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. A graveside service will take place on Monday, April 20th at 10:30 a.m. at Evergreen Cemetery, 769 Ella Grasso Blvd., New Haven. www.washingtonmemorialfh.com
