Edgardo Colón, 67, of New Haven, CT died peacefully on Wednesday, October 8, 2025 at Yale-New Haven Hospital, York St. Campus with his loving family by his side. Edgardo was born in Barranquitas, Puerto Rico on December 12, 1957, a son of the late Gilberto Colón and the late Gladys Vargas, and had lived in Puerto Rico for most of his life before moving to Brooklyn, NY and later Buffalo, NY before moving to New Haven in 1998.
Edgardo was a home body who enjoyed gardening and loved playing the lottery. He was a self-employed auto mechanic and carpenter for many years, retiring in 2013 due to Illness.
He is survived by his daughter Maria Virgen Colón of New Haven, two sons, Jorge Colón of New Haven and Edgardo Colón of Dade City, FL, his twin sister Awilda Colón of Comerio, PR, three brothers, Rafael (Benice) Vargas of NJ, Pete (Alicia) Vargas of NC and Julio Colón of PR, five grandchildren, Ashley (Edgar) González, Maria Sarango, Elianie Tirado, John Carlos Colón and Brian Colón, and five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son Ricardo Colón, and his brother Roberto Colón.
Funeral services for Edgardo are private, and have been entrusted to the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. washingtonmemorialfh.com
