Dorothy Fippinger Kennedy, 99, passed away on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, after a long, active and fulfilled life. Dorothy was born on October 7, 1926 in Middletown, CT to Frederick and Helen (Schaefner) Fippinger. She lived in North Madison until she married William B. Kennedy (Bill) at the age of 18, when she moved to his hometown of North Haven, which became her lifelong home.
Dorothy was never one to be idle! Over the years she had many different hobbies. People will recall seeing her dancing, riding her bike, walking or using the circuit at Healthtrax. Being so active kept her young. During her golden years she enjoyed traveling, baking, square dancing, and playing cards or bingo. Dorothy was a volunteer at the North Haven Fair for over 60 years! Dorothy could be found at the fairgrounds for weeks leading up to the fair to prepare. While the fair was open, she would loyally spend her days there and looked forward to seeing all the familiar faces. Dorothy will be sorely missed by her family and those who knew her. However, her strength, spunk, candor, generosity and thoughtfulness will remain.
Dorothy was predeceased by her husband Bill and siblings Lorraine Fippinger Yarde, Sabina Fippinger Lynde and Howard A. Fippinger. She leaves behind many family members that loved her and are grateful to have hed her presence for so many years including her children, Pamela Kennedy Trepanier (Mike), W. Michael Kennedy and daughter-in-law Barbara Kennedy; grandchildren, Robin Trepanier, Bonnie Trepanier and Mark Kennedy; great grandson, A.J. Ellis; as well as many nieces and nephews who fondly called her Aunt Dot.
Dorothy did not like being “fussed” over. As such, per her wishes, there will be no services. The Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven has been entrusted with arrangements. www.washingtonmemorialfh.com
