Donald C. Simkus

Donald C. “Frank” Simkus, 86, of Wallingford, CT, formerly of Northford, CT died suddenly on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at Midstate Medical Center. He was the beloved husband of the late Diane Cook Simkus. Frank was born in New Haven, CT on July 27, 1936, a son of the late John and Helen Simkus, and had resided in Northford for twenty years before moving to Wallingford a year and a half ago. He was a diesel mechanic for Teamsters’ Local 443 for twenty two years, retiring in 1997. Frank proudly served his country with the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1958, and enjoyed gardening and woodworking.  He is survived by his son John E. Simkus and his wife Dawn of Wallingford, and five grandchildren. He was predeceased by his daughter Donna M. Knapp and his brother, Gerald Simkus.  Frank’s family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, July 29th from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home at 10:00 a.m. Burial with Military Honors will follow in All Saints Cemetery, North Haven.  washingtonmemorialfh.com
