Dominic “Dee"  Louis Moreggi Obituary

Family and friends must say goodbye to their beloved Dominic Louis Moreggi of North Haven, Connecticut and Port St. Lucie, Florida who passed away at his home on Thursday, October 12, 2023 at the age of 96 with his loving family by his side.

Born in New Haven on January 19, 1927 to parents Luigi Moreggi and Rose Naccarato Moreggi, Dominic resided in North Haven for forty years, and Port St. Lucie, Florida from 2007 to 2022. He was predeceased by: his wife Louise Sanseverino Moreggi; and his siblings, Roseann Carrano and Armand Moreggi.

He was a machinist and worked for Peerless Products of Hamden for many years. He later was the maintenance supervisor for several area nursing homes including Soundview of West Haven.

Dominic was a lover of UConn Women's Basketball, smoking cigars in the sun, and was a member of the San Cataldo Society, and the Sons of Italy in Port St. Lucie, Florida. He was a proud WWII US Army Veteran.

He is survived by: his children, Rose Fiore (Dale) of North Haven, Donna Moreggi (Joe B.) of New Haven and Dominic Moreggi  (Patricia) of North Haven; his companion Loretta Deveny and her daughter Deborah Vallinaggi (Richard) of New Milford. He is also survived by grandchildren, Gina Altano (Daniel) of New Haven, Amelia Fiore (Larry Drapp) of Cheshire, Francesca Leonard (Sage) of North Haven, Lia Negele (Ross) of Walpole, MA, Kaitlyn Volpe (Charles) of Danbury and Justin Appley (Kaitlyn Butler); and his great grandchildren, Luke Altano and Sage Leonard, Jr.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 15th, 2023 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 P.M. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. Dominic's funeral cortege will depart the funeral home on Monday, October 16th at 9:30 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated at 10:00 AM at St. Therese Church (St. Elizabeth of the Trinity Parish), 555 Middletown Ave., North Haven. Burial with Military Honors will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
