Domenica “Mimi” Santia Tomei, 93 of Hamden, CT died peacefully on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at Yale-New Haven Hospital, St. Raphael Campus. She was the beloved wife of the late Alberto Tomei. Mimi was born in Supino, Province of Frosinone, Italy on September 29, 1930, a daughter of the late Rocco and Francesca Bernola Santia. She came to the U.S. in 1947, settled in Scituate, MA where she lived for twelve years and later lived in West Haven for four years before moving to Hamden in 1963. Mimi worked for the former Henry Richards Co. of Hamden for many years, and retired from U.S. Surgical, North Haven. She is survived by two daughters, Maria Tomei and her husband Michael Martone and Nancy Tomei and her husband Robert Carey of Hamden, two grandchildren, Marissa (Vincenzo) Trombetta of Milford and Scott (Victoria) Giordano of North Haven, two great-grandchildren Francesco and Alessandra Trombetta and a soon to be third great-grandson, baby boy Giordano. She was predeceased by her sister Maria Santia. Mimi’s family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, December 13th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. Her funeral cortege will depart the funeral home on Thursday, December 14th at 9:15 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Church (St. Paul VI Parish), 321 Circular Ave., Hamden. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Hamden.
