Dionisio Junior "Pinky" Serrano, 63, of New Haven, CT died peacefully on Wednesday, November 12, 2025 at Yale-New Haven Hospital, York St. Campus with his loving family by his side.
Pinky was born in Arecibo, Puerto Rico on April 20, 1962, a son of the late Dionisio Serrano and the late Carmen Rivera, and moved to New Haven at the age of fourteen. He was a machinist in the aerospace industry for thirty years, including many years at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft, East Hartford and also Flight Support, Inc. of North Haven, retiring in 2014.
Pinky loved the New York Yankees, and would sport Yankee clothing religiously. He enjoyed fishing as a past time, especially with his dad. He was a family man who enjoyed time home, and truly loved spending time with his grandkids. He was a handyman and was able to fix just about anything. Pinky enjoyed his morning coffee and weekend strolls through the flea market. He enjoyed wordsearch puzzles as well.
Dionisio is survived by a daughter, Kelly (Albert Maldonado) Serrano and a son, Kenneth "PJ" Serrano of New Haven, four sisters, Milagros Soto, Iris Fraguada and Margarita Serrano, all of New Haven and Gloria Serrano of Arecibo, two brothers, Angel Soto of Hartford and Luís Serrano of New Haven, two grandchildren, Kayson Maldonado and Kalli-Rose Maldonado, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by one sister, Olga Cortés and one brother, Francisco Serrano.
Dionisio's family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, November 23rd from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. A funeral service will take place at the funeral home at 5:00 p.m. Burial will be private. washingtonmemorialfh.com
