Diane Durocher Obituary

Diane E. Durocher passed into eternal life on Tuesday, July 7, 2026 in Bethesda, Maryland following a brief illness. She celebrated her 90th birthday, surrounded by family in May 2026. Diane was born in New Haven, Connecticut on May 13, 1936, a daughter of the late Louis and Josephine (Esposito) LaBagnara. She had resided in Bethesda for the past eight years, and had previously lived in Hamden, CT for fifty three years.

Diane was a woman of faith, family, and community. She was a devoted wife, deeply in love with her husband of 56 years, Louis Durocher, and a loving caretaker of her three children and four grandchildren. Diane was a registered nurse and used her medical knowledge to accompany extended family members through health challenges. She was a person of deep faith and committed Roman Catholic, who did advanced scripture study, was a biblical storyteller, hosted rosary events at her home, and participated actively in religious education at St. Joan of Arc Church in Hamden. Following her years as a nurse and at-home mother, Diane worked as bookkeeper and office manager at Durocher Associates. She was famous for her fabulous Italian cooking, love of family card games and singalongs, casino outings, quick humor and skill at word games, and beautiful embroidery. Diane prayed and she played, sharing her zest for life with all.

She is survived by two daughters, Michele (Charles) Dunne of Washington, D.C. and Denise (Timothy) Duffy of Hillsborough, NC, one son, Louis J. Durocher of Durham, NC, four grandchildren, Lucas Duffy, Olivia Dunne, Lilla Duffy and Max Dunne, and brother-in-law Philip Blair of Prospect, CT and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Larry and Linda Durocher of Woodbury, CT. She was predeceased by her husband Louis E. Durocher, and her sister Joyce Blair.

Diane’s family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, July 14th from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. Her funeral cortege will depart the funeral home at 10:45 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. in St. Barnabas Church (St. Pier Giorgio Frassati Parish), 44 Washington Ave., North Haven.
