Desiree Rivera López

It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Desiree Rivera, 36, of New Haven, CT. Desiree was born in Vega Baja, Puerto Rico on April 14, 1986, the daughter of Rafael Rivera of Vega Baja and Juanita López Rivera of Manatí, Puerto Rico. Desiree had a heart of gold and a soul that was just as beautiful as she was. She brought joy and cheerfulness to those who were lucky enough to have known her. Her smile and sense of humor would make a bad day turn into a good day. Desiree touched the lives of many people. She was always there for others even when she felt the world was against her. Nothing stopped Desiree from enjoying every moment of her life. She lived life the way she wanted to, and she did it beautifully, leaving her name and smile imprinted in our hearts forever. Those of you who knew Desiree knew that her children, close relatives and friends meant the absolute world to her. There's a saying that "Blood is thicker than water". To Desiree that quote meant nothing. To her everyone who was a part of her life was family. The love she had for life and others was so bright and pure. Desiree will be deeply missed. Her death has impacted us forever. All we are left with are memories of Desiree; the times we laughed together, cried together, and most importantly partied together. Our hearts are broken beyond repair, but with the strength and love of God Himself, we will heal as one. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her daughters Elianysse Cotto, 14, Elysse J. Hernández, 8, her sons Eddian Rivera, 10, and Ezziah Hernández, 5, all of New Haven, one sister Nelia Rivera of Vega Alta, PR, and two brothers, Xavier Rivera of New Haven and Lisandro López Viera of Manatí. PR. Desiree's family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, July 31st from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven.
