David Medina Rijos

David Medina Rijos, 73 of Hamden, CT, formerly of Toa Baja, Puerto Rico died peacefully at his home with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of the late Maria Ortega Colón. David was born in Toa Baja, Puerto Rico on December 22, 1946, a son of the late Carmela Medina and the late Carmen Rijos. He had resided in Toa Baja for his entire life before moving to Hamden eight months ago. David was a produce truck driver for more than twenty five years, retiring in 2013. He is survived by four daughters, Grisel Medina and her husband Carlos Pérez of East Haven, Adel Rios and her husband Juan Rios of New Haven, Margarita Rodríguez of Hamden, and Angelica Cordero and her husband Daniel Hernández of West Haven, one son, David Medina of New Haven, six sisters, Adel, Fela and Norma Medina of New Haven, and Lori, Cele and Luísa Medina of Toa Baja, one brother, Daniel Medina of New Haven, sixteen grandchildren, twenty four great grandchildren, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by two sisters, Josefina and Cecilia Medina, and a great-granddaughter, Melody Irizary. David's family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, August 13th from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. A funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Friday, August 14th at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, New Haven, CT. www.washingtonmemorialfh.com
