Celia Pagán Rivera, 83 of New Haven died peacefully at her home on Saturday, May 22, 2021 with her loving family by her side. She was the beloved wife of Cesario Báez. Celia was born in Comerio, Puerto Rico on March 19, 1938, a daughter of the late Juan Págan and the late Fructuosa Rivera, and had resided in New Haven for more than forty years. Celia was a member of Iglesia de Dios Evangelica of West Haven. Her family wishes to acknowledge Compass Hospice for their loving and compassionate care bestowed upon Celia as she approached the end of her journey in this world. Celia is also survived by three daughters, Eneida Martínez and her husband Angel, and Maria Magdalena Huertas Pagán of Comerio, and Betzaida Huertas Pagán of Springfield, MA, four sons, Ivan Huertas Pagán and his wife Sonia Soto, and David, Orlando and Joel Huertas Pagán, all of Comerio, three sisters, Carmen Rivera and her husband Rev. Inocencio Rivera of West Haven, Elba Pagán and her husband Rafael Rivera of Hamden, and Julia Pagán of San Juan, Puerto Rico, five brothers, Juan Pagán, Alejo Pagán and his wife Carmen Reyes, Franciso Pagán and his wife Margarita, and Angel Pagán of New Haven, and Miguel Pagán and his wife Julia Hernández of Aguas Buenas, PR, twenty grandchildren, many, many great-grandchildren, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by a daughter, Noemi Huertas, and two sisters, Tomasa and Angela Pagán. Celia’s family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, May 25th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. A funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 26th at 10:00 a.m., the Rev. Inocencio Rivera officiating.
