Carmen Ana Crespo, 57, of New Haven, CT died peacefully on Wednesday, November 26, 2025 with her loving family by her side. Carmen was born in New Haven on January 21, 1968, a daughter of Carmen (Nieves) Crespo of New Haven and the late Luís Alfredo Crespo, and was a lifelong New Haven resident.
Carmen was a beautiful reflection of warmth, generosity, and devotion to family. Her home was a place of refuge for all, with the back door always open and the kitchen full of laughter. Carmen spent most days with her children and grandchildren, who were the light of her life. She cherished every moment with her mother and extended family, making the most of each memory created. Carmen's legacy will live through the stories of her giving heart and making everyone feel seen and heard. Her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.
In addition to her mother, Carmen is survived by a daughter, Katherine M. (Eddy Ortega) Bonilla, a son, Juan Luís Rivera, two sisters, Omayra Crespo and Maria (José Aviles) Reyes, all of New Haven, four grandchildren, Ediamly, Gianna, Emory and Christian Ortega, and many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her sister Jocelyn Rodríguez.
Carmen's family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, December 1st from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Iglesia Cristiana Estrella Resplandeciente de Jacob (Radiant Star of Jacob Christian Church), 185 Chapel St., New Haven. A funeral service will take place during visitation time. A prayer service will take place at the church on Tuesday, December 2nd at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, 769 Ella T.
