Carmela Colandrea Penkrat, 90 of Hamden, formerly of West Haven died peacefully at home with her loving family by her side. She was the beloved wife of Anthony D. Penkrat, Sr. Carmela was born in New Haven on March 3, 1930, a daughter of the late Michael and Maria DeVito Colandrea, and had resided in West Haven for most of her life before moving to Hamden five years ago. She worked for U.S. Surgical and later Covidian for twenty five years, retiring in 2014. She is also survived by a daughter, Deborah (Joseph) Cefaratti of Hamden, two sons, Anthony D. Penkrat, Jr. of West Haven and Daniel (Theresa) Penkrat of East Haven, six grandchildren, Albert (Danielle) Papa, Kristen Murgo, Christopher Cefaratti, Anthony Penkrat, III, Daniel Penkrat, Jr. and Alexandria Penkrat, and two great grandchildren, Brooklynn and Cash Papa. She was predeceased by a daughter-in-law, Marsha Penkrat, a sister, Theresa Russo, and two brothers, Pasquale and Benny Colandrea.
