Candelario Zabala Cintrón, 73, of New Haven died peacefully on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at Yale-New Haven Hospital with his loving family by his side. Candelario was born in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico on March 8, 1948, and resided there for most of his life before moving to Camden, NJ in 1992 for seven years. He had lived in New Haven for the past twenty three years. Candelario was a self-employed auto body technician, and a parishioner of St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church of New Haven. He is survived by four sons, Rev. Carlos (Annette) Zabala of West Hartford, Enrique (Carmen) Zabala and Darien Zabala of New Haven and Gabriel (Rev. Agnes Pérez) Zabala of Brockton, MA, one sister, Milagros Cintrón of Yauco, Puerto Rico, seven grandchildren, Carlos (Odalys) Zabala, Jr. of North Carolina, Marangeliz, Carla Marie, Stephanie and Nashaly Zabala of New Haven, and Gabriel and Daniel Zabala of Brockton, five great-grandchildren, Yandel López, Jayden and Jassiel Ristorucci, Jaylani Colón and Kieve Deville, his long-time life partner Magdalena Buidrago of Wallingford, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Candelario’s family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, December 5th from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. A graveside service will take place on Monday, December 6th at 11:00 in Evergreen Cemetery, 769 Ella Grasso Blvd., New Haven. www.washingtonmemorialfh.com
