Bernarda (Adáme Cruz) Cardona, 93, of New Haven, CT died peacefully at her home with her loving family by her side on Monday, January 27, 2025. She was the beloved wife of the late Sixto Cardona. Bernarda was born in Lares, Puerto Rico on June 17, 1931, a daughter of the late Guillermo Adáme and the late Santos Cruz and had resided in New Haven for the past fifty four years. She was a retired seamstress having worked in several area garment companies.
Bernarda is survived by four daughters, Olivia Cardona, Dulce (Rev. Tony) Brenes and Margarita (Mario) Rolón of New Haven and Carmen (John) Lugo of Deltona, FL, two sons, Angel (Damaris) Cardona of Wallingford and Ermelindo (Elizabeth) Cardona of Hamden, nine grandchildren Desmond, Jennifer and Matthew Lugo, Javier and Orlando Rolón, Griselle McFadden, Ita Brenes, Linda Brown and Rosie Alvárez, twenty five great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her granddaughter Iliana Brenes.
Bernarda's family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, January 30th from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Star of Jacob Christian Church (Iglesia Cristiana Estrella de Jacob), 506 Howard Ave., New Haven. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, New Haven.
