Benito González Ortíz

Benito González Ortíz, 65, of New Haven, CT died peacefully at his home on Sunday, March 5, 2023. He was the beloved husband of the late Candida Ocasio. Benito was born in Guayama, Puerto Rico on March 21, 1957, a son of the late Otilio González and the late Luisa Ortíz, and had resided in New Havn for more than thirty years. He was a groundskeeper for Catholic Cemeteries Association at St. Lawrence Cemetery, West Haven for twenty eight years, retiring in 2022. Benito is survived by one son, Benito González and his wife Sugeidi Santa of Guayama, and his grandson, Benny Manuel González of Guayama, six sisters, Judith, Luisa Maria, Haydee (Rafael Reyes) and Elizabeth González Ortíz of Guayama and Zoraida Burgos and Maria Yepez of New Haven, three brothers, Otilio (Wanda) González Ortíz of Cayey, Puerto Rico, and Manuel and Felix (Edna Madera) González Ortíz of Guayama, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his son Jaime González, and one sister, Ana González Ortíz. Benito's family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, March 10th from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven.
