Aurelia Vera Cannata of North Haven passed away peacefully in at home in her sleep with her loving family by her side on Thursday, April 1, 2021. She was 101 years old. Vera was born on January 23, 1920 in North Haven, CT, the daughter of the late Aurelio and Antoinette Guandalini Pockino. She was married to the late Paul Cannata, and was the loving mother to two daughters; the late Paula Robbins and Jane Carruth of North Haven. Vera is survived by a sister, Josephine Mezzi , and was predeceased by her siblings, Mary Bennatti, Theresa DeMartino, Frank Pockino and Gloria Dellisola. She was the aunt of Gerald and Gary Mezzi, Karen Lemkewich, Debra Reynolds, James and Dennis Dellisola, Roger and Frances Bennatti, and the late John Bennatti. Vera was the loving grandmother of Michael and Melissa Carruth, and the great grandmother of Jordan and Ethan Carruth-Moore. Vera’s happy and kind disposition, and kindness towards family and friends made you want to be around her. She will be missed by all her met her. Rest in peace sweet Vera. Her family would like to thank family friend Fran Thompson for all the support and help she kindly gave to Vera. They would also wish to express their gratitude to VNA Community Healthcare and Hospice, especially Dr. Donna Criscenzo, and all the nurses and nurse’s aids Ty, Jenny, Ellen and Donna for the outstanding gentle loving care they gave to Vera. There will be no calling hours. A special memorial graveside service will be held at All Saints Cemetery, North Haven at a later date. Memorial contributions in Vera's name may be made to a charity of one's choice.
