Armida E. Letize Funaro, 86 of Wallingford, formerly of Hamden and North Haven died peacefully on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at the Masonicare Health Center, Wallingford. She was the beloved wife of the late Richard F. Funaro. Armida was born in New Haven on September 21, 1934, a daughter of the late Joseph and Aida Bellucci Letize. She had lived in Hamden for thirty five years, North Haven for fifteen years and Wallingford for the past thirteen years. Armida was the cafeteria supervisor at Hamden High School for sixteen years, retiring in 1992. She had previously worked at the former Ambassador Restaurant of Hamden for twenty five years, and served on the Hospital of St. Raphael Auxiliary Board for eight years. Armida’s family wishes to thank the entire staff at Masonicare for the care and compassion bestowed upon their mom during her time of need. Armida is survived by a daughter, Patricia (Glen) Mathews of Hamden, two sons, Richard (Janet) Funaro of North Haven and Michael (Nancy) Funaro of Middletown, three sisters, JoAnn White of Wallingford, and Margaret “Peggy” Limosani and Lorraine (Louis) Palumbo of Hamden, six grandchildren, Dana Perry of Haverhill, MA, Glen (Justine) Mathews, Jr. of Hamden, Taylor (John) Mersereau of Wethersfield, Ricky (Gina) Funaro and Nicole A. Funaro of North Haven, and Michael C. Funaro of Middletown, three great-grandchildren, Peyton Perry, and Ava and Leo Mathews, and many cherished nieces, nephews, and cousins. There will be no calling hours. Everyone is invited to go directly to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 2819 Whitney Ave., Hamden on Wednesday, February 3rd for a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. A committal service will be scheduled at Beaverdale Memorial Park, New Haven at a later date.
