Antonio DiBenedetto, 77, of Northford, CT died suddenly on Thursday, August 29, 2024 at Yale-New Haven Hospital, York St. Campus. He was the beloved husband of fifty five years to Anna (Insero) DiBenedetto. Antonio was born in Ruviano, Province of Caserta, Italy on October 31, 1946, a son of the late Ferdinando and Antonietta (Santabarbara) DiBenedetto. He moved to New Haven in 1970, and resided in Northford for the past thirty seven years. Along with his family, Antonio owned and operated Rocco's Bakery of New Haven for thirty six years, retiring in 2019. After retirement, Antonio enjoyed spending time outdoors with his animals, gardening and riding his tractors. He was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
In addition to his wife Anna, he is survived by two sons, Ferdinando "Fred" DiBenedetto and his wife Dorothy of South Meriden and Giovanni "John" DiBenedetto and his wife Kamila of North Port, FL, three sisters, Filomena Mastroianni of North Haven, Giuseppina Mastroianni of Villa Santa Croce (CA), Italy and Domenica Troiano of Florence, Italy, two brothers, Giovanni DiBenedetto and his wife Barbara of Northford and Angelo DiBenedetto and his wife Domenica of Colchester, four beloved grandchildren, Antonio and Sophia DiBenedetto and Sebastian and Dominik DiBenedetto, and many nieces and nephews both in the U.S. and Italy that he loved dearly. He was predeceased by his brother Stefano DiBenedetto.
Antonio's family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, September 4th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. On Thursday, September 5th, everyone is invited to go directly to St. Therese Church (St. Elizabeth of the Trinity Parish), 555 Middletown Ave., North Haven for a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be private. washingtonmemorialfh.com
