Anthony "Tony" Joseph Vigliotti of East Haven, CT, passed peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at CT Hospice, Branford. Tony was born on August 22, 1942, in New Haven, Connecticut, to Rose (Cavallaro) Vigliotti and Louis Vigliotti of Lenox Street. As a child, Tony loved playing football and enjoyed all kinds of outdoor sports. He attended Notre Dame of West Haven High School and later earned his Associate's Degree from Quinnipiac College. Afterward, he joined the Army, serving as a Medic in the National Guard. He later completed his Bachelor's Degree at SUNY Empire State.
At 19, Tony met Rose Cangiano, and the two fell in love, marrying on September 12, 1964. They built a life together and had two children: Lisa (Tim) Vigliotti Harkness and Christine (Anthony) Vigliotti Maisano. The family settled in East Haven, where Tony and Rose were deeply involved in community and school activities. Tony served as PTA President and was widely known for his dedication to community service. Tony's pride and joy were his grandchildren: Julianna, Tyler, Katherine, Anthony, Matthew, Caroline, and Ava Rose. He was predeceased by his parents and his grandson, David Harkness. He is survived by his brother, Vincent Vigliotti, and a large extended family of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Professionally, Tony was an accountant and an Enrolled Tax Agent. His expertise and reputation led him to found his own company, Bennett Business Services, where he offered bookkeeping, tax advice, and consulting services to many longtime clients who became cherished friends.
Tony and Rose were also active members of The Farms Country Club, where he enjoyed golfing and spending time with friends and family. His commitment to the community extended to his alma mater, Notre Dame High School, where he served on the Board and received a Lifetime Achievement Award. He was particularly proud of establishing the Notre Dame golf tournament, which became a major contributor to the school's scholarship fund. He later replicated his success by founding a similar tournament at Sacred Heart Academy. Additionally, Tony was active in the East Haven Chamber of Commerce, earning the Chamber's award for his contributions. As a Knight in the Knights of Columbus, Tony was known for his tireless support of numerous charities, particularly those that benefitted children.
He will be laid to rest with military honors at St. Lawrence Cemetery, West Haven following a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated in St. Vincent de Paul Church (St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish), 80 Taylor Ave., East Haven on Saturday, October 5th at 10:00 a.m.
