Anthony Penkrat, Sr. Obituary

Anthony "Tony" Daniel Penkrat, 89 of Hamden, formerly of West Haven died peacefully on Friday, November 27, 2020 at his home in Hamden with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of the late Carmela Colandrea Penkrat. Tony was born in New Haven on June 7, 1931, a son of the late Daniel and Dorothy Sakovitch. He had resided in West Haven for most of his life before moving to Hamden five years ago. Tony owned and operated the former Pen-Col Landscaping Co. of West Haven for more than thirty five years, retiring in 1996, and previously had worked at Newton-New Haven Die Casting Co. for fifteen years. After his retirement he went to work for Hy's Limousine of West Haven for an additional fifteen years. He was a founding member of the Connecticut Groundskeepers Assn. and proudly served his country with the U.S. Army during the Korean War Era. Tony is survived by a daughter, Deborah (Joseph) Cefaratti of Hamden, two sons, Anthony D. Penkrat, Jr. of West Haven and Daniel (Theresa) Penkrat of East Haven, two sisters, Nina Bodick of Stamford and Donna (Mario) Longobardi of Fountain Valley, CA, six grandchildren, Albert (Danielle) Papa, Kristen Papa, Christopher Cefaratti, Anthony Penkrat, III, Daniel Penkrat, Jr. and Alexandrea Penkrat, and two great-grandchildren, Brooklyn and Cash Papa. Funeral services for Tony are private and have been entrusted to Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. www.washingtonmemorialfh.com
