Anne Margaret Baldwin, 93, of New Haven, CT, formerly of East Haven, CT died peacefully at Apple Rehab-Laurel Woods, East Haven on Monday, March 9, 2026 with her loving family by her side. Anne was born in New York City on October 14, 1932, a daughter of the late John and Marie (Huber) Baldwin and had resided in East Haven for more than thirty years before moving to New Haven. Prior to retirement, Anne worked in the food service industry and in retail services for many years.
Anne will be remembered for her strength, determination, and wonderful sense of humor. A hardworking woman throughout her life, Anne faced many challenges early on, including a difficult childhood when she was quarantined for tuberculosis. Even through those hardships, she proved herself to be a true survivor whose resilience carried her through life. Anne had a deep love for animals, and a generous heart. No stray that came to her door ever went unfed, and her bird feeder was always full. Caring for animals brought her great joy and reflected the kindness she showed to everyone around her. She loved spending time with her family, and especially enjoyed traveling with them. Anne was incredibly proud of her children and the lives they built: Barbara, a retired U.S. Colonel; Arnold, retired and living in Florida, Bernard, a farmer and rancher; and Felicia, soon to retire from Yale University. After retiring, Anne embraced life with enthusiasm. She spent her time dancing, laughing, and enjoying trips to the casino-always bringing her lively spirit and sense of fun wherever she went. Her strength, generosity, and love for family will be remembered by all who knew her. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched and in the family she was so proud of.
She is survived by two daughters, Lt. Colonel Barbara (Julia) Schwartz, US Army, Ret., of Senoia, GA and Felicia A. Schwartz of East Haven, two sons, Arnold Peter Schwartz of Palm Bay, FL and Bernard (Tracy) Schwartz of Williamsport, TN, five grandchildren, Lt. Colonel Daniel (Rebecca) Schwartz, U.S. Army, Jenna Schwartz and Rhianna, Sarah and Alyssa Anderson, three great-grandchildren, Shyanne Anderson, Kristofer Anderson, and Bridget Schwartz, and many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by three sisters, Marie Woodie Baldwin Stiverson, Ella Baldwin Osman and June Baldwin Walsh.
Funeral services for Anne are private, and have been entrusted to the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. washingtonmemorialfh.com
